Ajit Pawar and Rohit Pawar
Sharad Pawar’s grandson and Ajit Pawar’s nephew Rohit Pawar won the Karjat Jamkhed seat in Maharashtra despite losing. His uncle Ajit Pawar had fun with Rohit in this. Ajit congratulated Rohit on his victory and jokingly said that if I had held the meeting, you would have lost, but some survived. Rohit Karjat won the election from the Jamkhed seat by 1,243 votes.
He defeated BJP’s Ram Shinde. Rohit Pawar got 127,676 votes, while Ram Shinde came second with 126,433 votes. Independent Rohit Chandrakant got 3,489 votes. According to information, at the time of counting, there was news of Rohit Pawar’s defeat in the last round due to technical reasons. But after recount, Rohit Pawar won the election by 1,243 votes. There were a total of 11 candidates for this seat.
The BJP once had dominance in this seat.
Before the 2019 elections, the BJP had won the Karjat Jamkhed assembly seat five consecutive times. At the same time, the BJP’s fort collapsed due to defeat in the 2019 elections. Sadashiv Lokhande of the BJP won from this seat three consecutive times in 1995, 2000 and 2005. While Ram Shinde of the BJP won the elections of 2009 and 2014. At the same time, Rajendra Pawar, who is contesting for this seat, is the third generation of his family.
Rohit Rajendra Pawar is the grandson of Dinkarrao Govindrao Pawar, elder brother of NCP chief and former chief minister Sharad Pawar. His rival and BJP candidate Ram Shinde has been a member of the Legislative Council. Before 2019, he was the Minister of Water Conservation in the Government of Maharashtra. He has been an MLA from this position for two consecutive terms in 2009 and 2014.
