Following rising air pollution levels in the national capital Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage III in Delhi. Under this, the Delhi Transport Department has issued strict action orders against vehicles violating pollution norms from Friday. A fine of Rs 20,000 has been imposed for ignoring the rules and the Delhi Transport Department has outlined four types of violations for which a fine will be imposed.
1. BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles (LMVs), including four-wheelers, are strictly prohibited from plying in Delhi. The decision aims to reduce emissions from older vehicle models, which play an important role in the poor. air quality,
2. Diesel-powered Medium Goods Vehicles (MGVs) registered in Delhi meeting BS-III standards or below are not allowed to ply in the city. There are exceptions for vehicles that transport essential goods or provide vital services.
3. Diesel-powered light commercial vehicles (LCVs) from outside Delhi, if registered under BS-III standards or below, are also not allowed to enter the city. However, these vehicles will also be exempt during the transportation of essential goods or services.
4. No entry allowed into Delhi except inter-state buses, electric vehicles (EV), CNG or BS-VI diesel powered buses coming from NCR states, buses with All India Tourist Permit and temporary travelers are exempt from this restriction. has been kept out of reach.
Let us tell you that to address the rising level of pollution, changes have also been announced in the office visit timings of various departments in Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi gave information about this in a post on X. Under this new order, Delhi government offices will follow different working hours during peak hours to help reduce traffic and air pollution. This order has come into effect with immediate effect.
As per the new order, the office hours for employees of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will now be from 8:30 am to 5 pm. For central government employees, these hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. At the same time, office hours for employees of other departments of the Delhi government will be from 10 am to 6:30 pm. The objective of this initiative is to reduce vehicle traffic on the roads, reduce dust and smoke pollution and free workers from traffic jams during peak traffic hours.
