New Delhi. Today is a very important day in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Monday is the last day to withdraw nominations in the state. In such a situation, all parties including BJP and Congress are busy convincing their respective rebels. In this sequence, former BJP MP Gopal Shetty announced that he would withdraw his nomination from the Borivali seat. He had filed a nomination against BJP’s official candidate Sanjay Upadhyay from Borivali seat.
Meanwhile, rebel Congress leader Mukhtar Shaikh from Kasba assembly constituency has decided to withdraw his nomination and support official MVA candidate Ravindra Dhangekar. He had filed his nomination as an independent candidate. Mukhtar Sheikh said that I have decided to withdraw my nomination as an independent candidate. I received a call from state president Nana Patole, in-charge Ramesh Chennithala and MP Syed Naseer Hussain. After his assurance, I took the decision and withdrew my nomination. I will also support and work for MVA candidate Ravindra Dhangekar in Kasba Assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena (UBT), said whether we will contest for 99 or 105 seats, that is not our objective. We are Aghadi Mahavikas and we will fight only as Aghadi Mahavikas. The full picture will become clear this afternoon.
