Bathinda: Farmers attacked the police team in Bathinda, Punjab. An ASI agent was injured in the attack. The police officer has been admitted to the hospital. According to information, the farmers associated with Indian Farmers Unity Ugraha attacked the ASI with sharp weapons. Police said that during the rice auction at Raike Kala village, the farmers’ union surrounded the Naib Tehsildar and the inspector.

The police had gone to rescue the kidnapped agents.

DSP Harbans Singh Dhaliwal said that during the rice procurement process on Monday, members of farmers’ organizations attacked a team of Punjab Police at Raike Kalan village in Bathinda. The DSP confirmed that an inspector and a Naib Tehsildar were held hostage by the farmers for some time. The ASI was injured in the attack and was admitted to the hospital.

DSP Dhaliwal said that during the purchase of rice in Raike Kalan village, the farmers union surrounded the inspector and Naib Tehsildar. When our police group arrived, they requested the release of our officers, but the farmers union did not agree. When the police team tried to rescue them, they (the farmers’ union) attacked them. One of our officers was injured. Our vehicles were vandalized. The Tehsildar and the inspector were released.
