Manipur government cancels decision to reopen schools and colleges in Imphal Valley and Jiribam district.
The Manipur state government has canceled its decision to open schools and colleges in Imphal Valley and Jiribam district from Monday. Schools and colleges in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching and Jiribam were closed for about a week due to prohibitory orders imposed in response to renewed violence in the area, an official said. In a fresh instruction issued late on Sunday night, the Directorate of Education (Schools) announced the revocation of the previous order regarding resumption of normal classes.
“Dates of reopening of schools with respect to resumption of normal classes for all schools (including public, government-aided, private and central) in the state,” said the Directorate of Education – Schools in the last order issued Sunday night. The November 24 order has been canceled and all schools in the valley districts will be closed on November 25 and 26.”
Similar order also issued for universities
Officials said a similar order was also issued for universities. Meanwhile, according to separate notifications issued by the administration of five districts, the prohibitory orders imposed in the Valley have been relaxed from 5 am to 12 noon to facilitate the purchase of essential goods.
