Tremendous cricket action between India and Australia will begin in the coming days. Everyone is waiting for this clash between two countries and all eyes are fixed on its start. Just before this, injuries to star players have become a cause for concern. While Team India’s star batsman Shubman Gill was injured just before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was ruled out of the Perth Test, KL Rahul was also injured. Apart from all this, Australia has also suffered a shock as the team might have to take the field without its captain in the upcoming series. But this injury was not caused to the captain of the Australian men’s team, Pat Cummins, but to the captain of the women’s team, Alyssa Healy, who may be ruled out of the series against India starting next week.
Outside WBBL, playing ODI series is also difficult
While the Test series between the Australian and Indian men’s teams will begin on November 22 in Perth, the ODI series between the women’s teams will begin in Brisbane from December 5. Just before this series, the team’s star captain, Alyssa Healy, injured her left knee. Healy suffered this injury during the Women’s Big Bash League, where she was already slowly recovering from a leg injury. However, on Saturday 16 November, her Sydney Sixers team issued a statement saying that Healy had suffered a knee injury and had been ruled out of the remaining matches of the tournament.
Although Healy’s injury is not said to be very serious and he will be examined in the coming days, it seems difficult for him to play in the ODI series against India. The 3-match ODI series between India and Australia will begin from December 5, after which Australia will also have to play New Zealand. It seems difficult for Healy to play in both series at the moment. The Australian squad for the series against India could be announced late next week.
He was also injured in the World Cup.
In Healy’s absence, star all-rounder Tahlia McGrath will take charge of the team as Healy had previously suffered a leg injury during the T20 World Cup. He was injured in the group stage match against Pakistan, so he was unable to play in the final group match against New Zealand and then the semi-final against South Africa. Also then McGrath had taken charge of the team, but the Australian team had failed to qualify for the final for the first time in many years.
