Apple has increased iPhone exports from India. In the last 6 months the company has increased exports by 30 percent. In fact, the company is expanding its manufacturing in India. Additionally, Apple is also reducing its dependence on China. Due to this, the export of Indian-made iPhones is increasing worldwide.
The US major has exported Made in India iPhones worth around $6 billion (around Rs 50,451 crore) from India. These figures are up to September 2024. So far, the company has exported 30 percent more Indian-made iPhones than last year.
Three companies manufacture
According to a Bloomberg report, three of Apple’s suppliers: Foxconn Technology Group, Pegatron Corp and Tata Electronics are expanding through their assembly operations in India. Nearly half of the iPhones exported from India are manufactured at Foxconn’s facility in Chennai.

Tata Electronics, which acquired Wistron Corp’s factory last year, exported $1.7 billion worth of iPhones from its Karnataka plant between April and September. India’s export landscape has also changed due to increased iPhone production.
Smartphone export reached the peak
Smartphones have reached the first place among items exported from India to the United States. The company has exported smartphones worth $2.88 in the last 5 months. While five years ago, India’s smartphone export to the United States was just $52 lakh. There have been many changes since Apple started manufacturing.

Apple has assembled $14 billion worth of iPhones in India in fiscal 2024, double that of last year. The company has leveraged local subsidies, skilled labor and superior technological capabilities, making India a major manufacturing hub.
Initially, the company assembled only old and non-professional models in India. However, now the company has also started manufacturing Pro models here. The company has started manufacturing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. If reports are to be believed, the company is considering starting production of AirPods in India.
