As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in India in 2036, the government has taken an important step.
According to high-level sources, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on October 1 sent a letter of intent to the future Host Commission of the International Olympic Committee expressing India’s interest in hosting the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games. To the Indian expatriate community at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, Prime Minister Modi said: “The Paris Olympics concluded just a few days ago. Very soon we will also see the Olympic Games organized in India. “We are making every effort to host the 2036 Olympic Games.”
This is not the first time that Prime Minister Modi has expressed his desire to host the Olympics in India. Earlier, on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, he had said from the ramparts of the Red Fort: “India’s dream is to host the 2036 Olympics, we are making preparations for it.”
According to sources, this historic occasion can play an important role in promoting economic growth, social progress and youth empowerment across the country.
