Apple’s iPhone production in India has increased rapidly with the help of the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. iPhone production in the country reached $10 billion in the first seven months of the current financial year (FY25), of which $7 billion has been exported. This is the biggest export record so far.

Apple produced iPhones worth $14 billion in India in the last financial year (FY24), of which more than $10 billion was exported.

“iPhone production reached $10 billion, of which $7 billion was exported,” Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on social media platform ‘X’. “India’s total smartphone exports have crossed $10.6 billion in seven months.”

The minister also pointed out that the Apple ecosystem has created 1.75 lakh new jobs in the last four years, of which more than 72 per cent are women.

Apple exported iPhones worth about Rs 60,000 crore (around $7 billion) from India in the first seven months (April-October) of the current financial year (FY25). During this period, the company exported iPhones worth an average of 8.45 billion rupees (around $1 billion) every month.

Apple reported its highest-ever revenue growth in India in the July-September quarter. Apple CEO Tim Cook said: “The enthusiasm with which people are adopting our products in India is inspiring. This year we have recorded the best revenue ever recorded in India.”

Apple’s revenue rose 36 percent to Rs 66.7 billion (around $8 billion) in the latest financial year (FY24), while the company’s profit rose 23 percent to Rs 2,746 crore ( 330 million dollars). The previous profit in FY23 was Rs 2,229.
