IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The two-day mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. On the first day (November 24), the 10 teams bought 72 players spending a total of Rs 467.95 million. Now the second day of auction will take place on Monday (November 25). On the first day, 3 players received so much money that all records in the history of IPL were broken. These three players have also surpassed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in terms of price.

These three players are wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with a bid of Rs 27 crore. In this way Pant has become the most expensive player in the history of the IPL.

Shreyas was bought by Punjab and Venkatesh by KKR.

Apart from this, Punjab Kings (PBKS) bought Shreyas Iyer with a bid of Rs 26.75 crore. Thus, Shreyas has now become the second most expensive player in the history of the IPL. The third issue belongs to Venkatesh Iyer. He was bought by Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team for Rs 23.75 crore.

Let us tell you that this star player played for the KKR team only until last season. But this time KKR did not retain Venkatesh. In such a situation, KKR had to use all its strength to buy Venkatesh in the auction.

Kohli and Rohit are worth so much

On the other hand, there is Virat Kohli, who has been signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The RCB franchise has retained Kohli for Rs 21 crore. While Rohit Sharma, who won the title five times for Mumbai Indians (MI), has been retained by the MI franchise for Rs 16.50 crore.

Thus, after being sold in the mega auction, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer have moved ahead of Kohli and Rohit in terms of price. Let us tell you that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who won the title 5 times for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has been retained by CSK for Rs 4 crore. In fact, Dhoni has not played international cricket for the last 5 years. In such a situation, due to the new rule, Dhoni remained an uncapped player.
