Recently, the Director General of Police of Maharashtra i.e. DGP Rashmi Shukla had transferred more than 300 police inspectors from the state and now the matter has reached such a stage that the Congress party has started demanding their removal . Who is Rashmi Shukla?
IPS Rashmi Shukla is the first woman DGP of Maharashtra. She is an IPS officer of 1988 batch. On January 4 this year, she was appointed DGP of the state. Before becoming DGP, she was posted as Director General i.e. DG in Sashastra Seema Bal i.e. SSB in central deputation. The most interesting thing is that she was retiring in June of this year, but the government gave her an extension, so she still remains in the position of DGP.

Rashmi Shukla, born on August 15, 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, received her early education at St. Xavier’s School, Mumbai. After that, he graduated from Elphinstone College, Mumbai and then pursued a master’s degree from the University of Mumbai. While studying in college, he started preparing for the UPSC exam. Apart from this, he also worked as Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Mumbai, Executive Director of Anti-Crime Branch in Nagpur and Pune. Not only this, she also worked in central deputation as DIG in Central Bureau of Investigation i.e. CBI in Delhi and Hyderabad and as Additional Director General i.e. ADG of CRPF in Hyderabad.

DGP Rashmi Shukla has been embroiled in controversies many times. He was also accused of tapping politicians’ phones, following which FIRs were filed against him in Mumbai and Pune. However, he later got a clean chit from the Bombay High Court in this case.
