Tension in the United States has increased due to a move by Iran.
Iran has created problems for the United States with one of its measures. In Iraq, the post of speaker of parliament, which had been vacant for almost a year, was appointed on Thursday. Iraq has chosen for this position a prominent Sunni leader who has very close relations with Iran.
Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, who was previously president from 2006 to 2009, was elected with 182 votes out of the 269 deputies present in parliament. This surprising decision was made after several months of stalemate between Iraqi political parties.
SC had removed the former president
In early November last year, former President Mohammed al-Halbousi was removed from office by Iraq’s Supreme Court because lawmaker Laith al-Dulaimi filed a case against him. Dulami had accused Halbusi of using a forged signature on his resignation letter. However, the Supreme Court dismissed Halboushi and Dulaimi from their positions without explaining the basis for its decision.
