Yesterday, one of ISKCON’s prominent leaders, Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das, was arrested in Dhaka. He has been detained at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The police have not even provided information about the charges on which Chinmoy Krishna Das has been arrested. ISKCON has sought help from the Government of India by tweeting on X about this matter. ISKCON also tagged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Ash Jaishankar in the tweet.
Alleging terrorism is insulting – ISKCON
On the arrest of Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das, ISKCON tweeted: “We have received disturbing news that Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das, one of the key leaders of ISKCON Bangladesh, has been detained by the Dhaka Police. ISKCON is not working anywhere in the country. world. It has nothing to do with terrorism. Making unfounded accusations about this is an insult.”
Appeal to the Government of India
Seeking help from the Indian government in this matter, ISKCON said: “ISKCON urges the Indian government to take immediate action and talk to the Bangladesh government. We are a peace-loving Bhakti movement. We want the Bangladesh government to release Chinmoy Krishna Das “Do it immediately. We pray to Lord Krishna for the safety of these devotees.”
