More than one lakh people live on the banks of river Sharda in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. Residents here find it difficult to reach the district headquarters. Because there are two options to go from the town to the district headquarters. One is to travel through the bridge built over the Sharda River or the other is to travel by road through Palia town of Kheri district, but the road route is quite long. The distance of the bridge is shorter. That’s why people prefer to go over the bridge instead of the road.

In this situation, the pontoon bridge built over the Sharda River is very important for the movement of the population here, although taking into account the danger of flooding every year. This bridge is removed, causing problems for people living on the banks of the Sharda River. Because they have to travel a long distance or take the help of a ship. Every year, this bridge is removed on June 15 and opened on October 15, but this time, let’s put aside October, even November is about to pass, but the bridge has not been smoothed again.

Forced to cross the river by boat.

Due to the non-reopening of the pontoon bridge, people are forced to cross the river by boat. The bridge, which was closed due to the danger of flooding during the rainy season, has not been reopened until the arrival of winter. Although the construction of a permanent bridge in place of the pontoon bridge for the people living on the banks of the Sharda River has been approved, the problems of the people of this area are not over yet.

Sharda river water level becoming a hurdle

Now, in such a situation, the question arises how long the people of Trans Sharda area will continue to use boats to cross the Sharda River. However, preparations are being made to reopen the Pantoon Bridge from the fixed reopening date of the bridge i.e. October 15. Pontoons have also been prepared for this, but the rising water level in the Sharda River is creating a problem that makes its revival difficult.
