Speaking at the lieutenant governor’s address in the Assembly, Omar demanded restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this is not the assembly we want. We want a full assembly, as promised by Prime Minister Modi.

However, he assured the police and paramilitary forces that the state government will help them maintain peace. Omar said that if there is no peace it will be impossible to work on other things. Therefore, it is our responsibility to help security forces maintain peace. There are two ways to keep peace: one is through arrests and other measures, and the other is by making people partners in peace.
