Jalandhar Crime News (Aaj Samaj), Jalandhar: As part of the special drive being carried out against criminals in the state, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police scored a major success when they arrested the criminals after an encounter with them. The arrested criminals were identified as dangerous agents of the Kaushal-Bambiha gang. Both were seriously injured during the encounter. Giving this information, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Thursday said that police teams recovered two pistols and five live cartridges from the spot.

Giving information in this regard, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that police officials chased gangsters Rajeshwar Kumar and Deepak Vaid for about 1.5 kilometers and after much effort arrested them. He said both the accused were involved in many heinous crimes and were planning to commit major crimes in Hoshiarpur, SBS Nagar, Kapurthala and other districts. He said these accused used to provide logistical support to other gang members and supply weapons to various gangs in Punjab and Haryana.

The DGP said that an investigation is underway to establish back-and-forth links in this case. Both the accused have criminal records and many criminal cases including Arms Act, NDPS Act and murder with intent have been registered against them. He said that with the recovery of two more pistols from the site, the total number of weapons recovered from said module rises to six. More arrests and seizures are likely to occur in the coming days.
