A case of missing jewelery worth Rs 81 lakh from the locker of State Bank of India (SBI) municipal branch at Orai in Jalaun district has come to light. This incident has created a stir in the area. Police registered the case and started investigation.
Victim Anand Swaroop Srivastava alleges that ancestral jewelery was stolen from his bank locker. Srivastava says he last opened the locker on August 13, 2024, in which precious gold and silver ornaments were kept in three boxes. He said the bank’s accountant Pranay Srivastava and other employees were present while the locker was being closed.
Gold and silver jewelry missing from bank locker
Anand Swaroop Srivastava alleges that bank manager Ankit Tiwari, accountant Pranay Srivastava and other employees together broke his locker and stole his jewellery. They say the stolen jewelry included four gold necklaces, 16 gold bracelets, 10 rings, half a silver box and 90 silver coins and other jewelry.
Anand Swaroop has filed a complaint at Orai police station in this matter. Superintendent of Police Umesh Pandey said that as per the complaint, the bank employees had informed about the locker being broken. When Srivastava looked at the locker, he found that the jewelery was missing.
Police registered the case and started investigation.
State Bank regional manager Amarpal Singh said the bank is also investigating the matter and full cooperation is being extended to the police. The truth will come out after the investigation. The police are currently verifying the facts of this case.
