In Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) elected Sunil Sharma as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly, while Narendra Singh was elected Deputy Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. After the legislative party meeting, the BJP spokesperson said that Sunil Sharma has been elected leader of the BJP legislative party and he will be the leader of the opposition in the assembly.
BJP leader Sunil Sharma, 47, has been elected to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for a second term, narrowly winning in the newly created Paddar Nagaseni constituency following the 2022 delimitation process in the Union Territory. Sunil Sharma was a Minister of State in the PDP-BJP coalition government from 2014 to 2018.
