Hemant Soren secured 95,612 votes from Barhet seat in Jharkhand. He defeated his rival BJP candidate Gamaliel Hembram by a margin of 39,791 votes. The BJP candidate got only 55,821 votes in these elections.

Talking about the results, Kalpana Soren is winning from Gande seat by about 1 lakh 18 thousand votes. Kalpana Soren, who is heading towards victory from this Giridih district headquarters, also visited here today and bowed before the public.
Hemant’s brother won Dumka seat
Hemant Soren’s brother participated in the election contest from the Dumka seat. He polled 95,685 votes in this seat and defeated BJP’s Sunil Soren by a margin of 14,588 votes. The BJP candidate got only 81,097 votes.

The Jharkhand elections also saw two divisions in Hemant Soren’s family. His sister-in-law Sita Soren alias Sita Murmu was contesting the Jamtara elections on the BJP ticket. Irfan Ansari of Congress won this seat. He defeated Sita Murmu by a margin of 43,676 votes.
