Kannada, the 105th seat of the Maharashtra assembly, is very important politically. Currently, Shiv Sena’s Uday Singh Rajput is the MLA here. Earlier, Harshvardhan Jadhav, who had won the election from the same seat on the MNS ticket, had made a spectacular comeback on this seat on the Shiv Sena ticket. However, before him, this seat was held by a Congress candidate. Congressional candidates had won here for a long time.

Talking about the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, on one hand, MLA Uday Singh Rajput was in the fray for the Kannada Assembly seat, while on the other hand, Harshvardhan Jadhav, who became MLA two times when competing on MNS and Shiv Sena tickets, he was contesting against them. He had filed his nomination as an independent candidate. Actually, due to political resentment, he did not get a party ticket, after which Harsh Vardhan also tried his best in this election. However, when the results were announced, Shiv Sena’s Uday Singh Rajput got a total of 79,225 votes, while independent candidate Harsh Vardhan got 60,535 votes. While the NCP candidate, Santosh, had to settle for 43,625 votes.
Dalit and tribal community dominance
If we look at the caste equation in the Kannada Assembly seat, the vote share of Dalit and tribal communities is almost equal here. Both are close to 8-8 percent. Although there are more Muslim voters here. The vote share of Muslim voters here is around 12 percent. At the same time, if we compare urban and rural voters, around 10 percent are urban voters and around 90 percent are rural voters.
