Karnal News (Aaj Samaj) Karnal: Last night, in a village in the district, a young man’s foot slipped while passing near Johar. Due to which the young man fell into the pond and died drowning in the water. After much effort, the villagers removed the young man’s body. The police received the information and took the young man’s body into their custody, today they performed the autopsy and handed it over to the relatives. The deceased worked as a day laborer. The incident took place in Bada village of Karnal district. According to information received from villagers, 27-year-old Sonu, a resident of Bada village, used to earn his living by working as a daily wage labourer. Sonu was reaching the village from work on Thursday night around 9 pm.
When he was passing near the Johad situated in the village, suddenly his foot slipped. Sonu went straight and fell into the pond. As soon as he fell into the water, Sonu made a lot of noise. Hearing Sonu’s voice, many people gathered in Johar. People tried to pull him out with the help of a rope, but soon he drowned in the water. Later, two people also jumped into the pond to save Sonu, but no trace of him was found. The villagers later removed the body by putting a net in the pond that same night.
The pond is 30 feet deep.
The villagers said that this pond is about 30 feet deep. But no guardrail or wall was built to block the side of the road. So some accident happens every day. The villagers said that Sonu was not married and lived alone in the house. Kunjpura police station investigating officer Suraj Kumar said the police had detained the body earlier in the night. Today the autopsy of the body was carried out and the body was handed over to his relatives.
