‘I couldn’t understand anything at that moment’

Karthik opened up about his mother’s fight against cancer in an interview. He said that moment was one of the most difficult of his life. Meanwhile, he also praised his mother for being fearless in this fight. Karthik said, ‘When your family or someone you love is fighting a disease like cancer, it creates fear in your mind. That fear was born within me. I had no idea at the time because it happened so suddenly. My mother had cancer when I was shooting for my film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. At the time of that movie I felt like I could go back and be someone with that movie.

‘My mother is my inspiration’

Karthik further said, ‘This was the time when I felt like I don’t want to work right now because there was a fight against cancer in my house. At that moment you don’t know what to do when something like this happens to you. When something hits you and suddenly everything stops because of it. Then you start to feel like nothing matters more than your life and your family. My mother fought cancer like a warrior and the person she is is the strongest person I have ever known. And it is my mother who inspires me to not be afraid in my life. So I take my hat off to my mom for that.

Karthik said his mother had cancer for about a year and a half. Meanwhile, her mother continued to fight cancer and her son Karthik continued to be her support.
