Kurukshetra News: Four smugglers caught with 36 kg and 140 grams of opium.

The opium was transported from Jharkhand to Punjab in a truck full of scrap metal.
(Present Society) Kurukshetra: The district police managed to arrest four accused along with 36 kg and 140 grams of opium. The accused were carrying opium from Jharkhand to Punjab by hiding it in a truck full of scrap metal. Police blocked Usmanpur village near NH 152 D and arrested the accused along with opium. The accused were identified as Punjab Singh, son of Harbhajan Singh, Gurvindra Singh, son of Dharmendra Singh, Sewa Singh, son of Tahal Singh, and Jeet Basu, son of Rohit Basu, resident of Koni Police Station, District of Sadiq, Faridkot Punjab. The police have initiated proceedings against the accused for possession of opium. Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Varun Singla said the district police are committed to combating drug trafficking.

He said the police had received information that opium in a truck from Jharkhand was heading to Punjab to be supplied through Haryana, Kurukshetra. The police formed a team under the leadership of Paramjeet Singh DSP Pehowa. According to information, the police team started checking by creating a blockade near Usmanpur village, NH-152. After a while, the police team saw the truck coming. After being checked by the police team, the people sitting on it gave their name and address as Punjab Singh son of Harbhajan Singh, Gurvindra Singh son of Dharmendra Singh, Seva Singh son of Tahal Singh and Jeet Basu son of Rohit Basu, a resident of Koni. Sadiq Faridkot Punjab District Police Station. Officer Paramjit Singh DSP Pehowa was called on the spot. When the accused and the truck were searched before the CO, 36 kg 140 grams of opium were recovered.

The accused will be remanded in custody

Police registered a case against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs Act at Sadar Pehowa police station and arrested the four accused. The accused will be brought before the court and preventive detention will be requested so that their entire gang can be located. The entire drug gang along with them should be exposed and arrested.
