Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “one is safe” slogan, just two days before the vote in Maharashtra, and accused him of prioritizing the interests of business tycoon Gautam Adani. about the people of Maharashtra. . Rahul Gandhi alleged that the “safe” of Prime Minister Modi’s slogan “Ek hain toh safe hain” symbolizes the wealth of Mumbai. He alleged that Gautam Adani is targeting Mumbai properties with the support of the BJP-led government. Isn’t this effort by Rahul Gandhi a wrong decision at the wrong time? Rahul Gandhi repeatedly focuses on the same issues that he lost in the last elections. By opposing the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, are they not creating problems for the Congress in Maharashtra?
1- Will the Dharavi issue affect the entire Maharashtra?
Rahul said the entire political machinery was sabotaged to allocate the Dharavi redevelopment project to a single person. He said, ‘The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is unfair and is being done only to benefit one person. We are not sure how all the ports, airports and properties in India will be allotted to one person. Rahul Gandhi is not targeting industrialist Adani for the first time, even before this he has been attacking the relationship between Adani and PM Modi at every forum and every meeting. This time on the pretext of Dharavi they are attacking Adani and Modi. In reality, the Dharavi issue will not extend to the entire Maharashtra. Even in Mumbai, Dharavi is not a problem. It is possible for the Congress to win the elections by misleading the people, but this too seems difficult. Because most of the people of Dharavi are seeing their dream of owning a house come true. Which has become difficult for the middle class in Mumbai or any metropolitan city nowadays. Even before this, there are many such slums in Mumbai where thousands of people were saved during the previous BJP and Shiv Sena government. The people of Dharavi were left behind in this matter because the matter was left pending due to politics.
2-The public will ask why Dharavi has not been developed yet.
The British established Dharavi in 1882. The purpose of its establishment was to provide affordable accommodation to the workers. Little by little people began to settle here and slums were formed. For decades, the government had no idea what kind of life the population led here. The land in Dharavi is government land, but people have built slums here at their own expense. Around 10 lakh people live here. The lifestyle of these people is such that even third world countries should feel ashamed. Those who have seen the movie Slum Dog Millionaire will know the hellish situation that exists here. About 80 percent of people are forced to go to dirty public toilets. An average of 10 people live in a 10 x 10 room. No one has ever done the work of improving this third largest slum in the world.
In 1999, when there was a BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government in Maharashtra, a proposal to rebuild Dharavi was first made. After this, in 2003-04, the Maharashtra government came up with the Dharavi redevelopment plan. The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is worth Rs 20,000 crore and is expected to be completed in 17 years. While the objective is to settle the people who live here in permanent homes in 7 years. This entire project will cover more than 1 million square feet of land.
If the Dharavi Redevelopment Project is canceled once again, obviously the public will not like it. The public will ask: If Congress can’t do anything, why does it oppose good work? Adani may come up with this plan for his own benefit. But ultimately only ordinary people will benefit. Whether they are builders or government officials and leaders, everyone seeks their own benefit. The public also understands that when Adani takes up any project of the Telangana government, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi does not oppose it. This same Adani became honest when he took up projects of the Rajasthan government when Ashok Gehlot was the CM.
3- Will the general public like the anti-development version of Congress?
The way Rahul Gandhi stands firm against the Adani Group may make him anti-development. Just a few days ago, Rahul Gandhi had clarified that he is neither against development nor against capitalists. Once again they are doing the same things that make their image anti-developmental. BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde responded to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations and said, ‘We have not handed over Dharavi land to anyone. Rahul Gandhi must know that the Dharavi land will remain solely in the hands of the Maharashtra government. You (Rahul Gandhi) said we want to get the poor out of there. This tender was issued on the basis of tender conditions formulated at the time of Maha Vikas Aghadi. The truth is that whoever lives in Dharavi will get a house there.
But Congress has continually misrepresented this project by calling it “Modani venture”. The opposition in Maharashtra has projected that some of the recent decisions of the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government promote the Adani Group’s “favour” and “Modani” agenda. Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray had said in July that “Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited (DRPPL), a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and the Adani Group, will be canceled if his government comes to power in the state.” . .
Congress also raises the issue of environment to cancel the Dharavi project. For this reason, Mumbai’s environment is considered a threat. He says salt is grown in Dharavi part. There are mangrove forests here. You can imagine what will happen when huge concrete colonies and huge buildings emerge in their place. In fact, the general public now considers all of this to be anti-development.
People here will not like this form of Rahul Gandhi in Mumbai. Rahul Gandhi can ruin his position even with 36 seats in Mumbai if he turns anti-development. Because the public is seeing that during the Congress and Shiv Sena rule, metro works were stopped in the name of environment. The bullet train work was stopped during the Congress and Shiv Sena rule. Now, as soon as the vote is taken tomorrow, it will be known how much the public will like the efforts that the Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) are making together to stop the Dharavi project.
