Fresh snowfall occurred in the upper areas of the Kashmir Valley today, Saturday. The cold has increased in the area after the snowfall. The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain in the valley, in addition to a drop in temperatures. This snowfall occurred in the upper areas of Sonamarg and Gulmarg of Ganderbal. The department said other upper reaches like Zojila and Sadna Top of Kupwara also received light snowfall. At the same time, light rains have also been recorded in some places.

It was further said that due to cloud cover, temperature changes were recorded in most places in Kashmir including Srinagar. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius, down from minus 1.2 degrees Celsius on Friday. Pahalgam recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius, Qazigund 0.8 degrees Celsius, Kupwara 2.1 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg 0.5 degrees Celsius.
It may snow or rain tomorrow
The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain or snowfall in upper parts of Kashmir on Sunday. Additionally, light rain or snow is expected in the upper parts of the valley on December 1, but the weather is likely to remain dry from December 2 to 5.
The first snow had occurred before this.
Earlier, the first snowfall of the season had occurred in Gulmarg, a famous tourist spot of Kashmir, on November 16. Apart from snowfall, rain was also observed in the plains. The snow began on the morning of November 16 and has been falling intermittently, resulting in up to an inch of snow. Officials had said snowfall occurred in many other upper areas of the valley, including Gurez in Bandipora district, Machil in Kupwara, Mughal Road in Shopian and other places. Meanwhile, it rained in many parts of the plains, including Srinagar.
