Will Hemant Soren return to power in Jharkhand once again or will the Bharatiya Janata Party’s five-year exile end? The answer to this question will be in front of everyone after a few hours. 81 Jharkhand assembly seats have been polled. As soon as the counting process begins, trends will begin to emerge. The assembly elections were held in the state in two phases. In the first phase, voting was held on 43 seats on November 13, while in the second phase, voting was held on 38 seats on November 20.
Littipara assembly seat is one of the 81 assembly constituencies of Jharkhand. Voting took place here in the second phase. This seat is reserved for scheduled tribes. This time an interesting contest was seen in Littipara. Actually, this seat has been occupied by JMM. JMM’s Hemlal Murmu and BJP’s Babudhan Murmu were in the election fray. It remains to be seen how much success the BJP achieves in its attempt to break the JMM’s impenetrable fort.
Electoral history: 2005 until now
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has unilaterally captured this seat. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has never lost here since 1980. Although the party candidates kept changing, JMM always won. If we talk about the year 2005, that year Sushila Hansdak won the elections with the JMM candidacy. Simon Marandi won in 2009, Dr Anil Murmu in 2014, Simon Marandi again in 2017 and Dinesh William Marandi in 2019.
In the 2019 assembly, JMM’s Dinesh William Marandi won by 66,675 votes. He had handed a crushing defeat to BJP’s Daniel Kisku. Kisku obtained 52,772 votes. Talking about the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly election results, JMM had won. JMM’s Dr Anil Murmu got 67,194 votes. The BJP also had to face defeat in 2014. BJP’s Simon Marandi got only 42,111 votes.
