Who will win Aheri assembly seat?

Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Who will be crowned this time in the Maharashtra Assembly elections will be decided on November 23. This time the elections will see a tough contest between the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi. Aheri Assembly seat is number 69 of the 288 assembly seats in the state. This is an important headquarters of Gadchiroli district. No party has control of this assembly. People here have been giving opportunities to all parties. Currently, NCP’s Dharamrao Baba Atram is the MLA here. However, now, after the split in the party, NCP-SP’s Dharamrao Baba Atram from the Sharad Pawar faction has been fielded again.

Before 2019, this seat was held by the BJP and before that people here had elected an independent candidate. Dharamrao Baba Atram won here in 1990 from the Congress, in 1999 from the Gondwana Gantantra Party and in 2004 from the Nationalist Congress Party. He won elections from this seat for the fourth time in 2019 and the second election on the NCP ticket. By early 2004, he had won on the NCP ticket.

Results of the last elections?

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Dharamrao Baba Bhagwantrao Atram contested as an NCP candidate from the Aheri Assembly seat. Amrishrao Raje rose from the BJP to challenge him. While Deepak Dada was in the Congress election fray. NCP’s Dharamrao Baba got a total of 60,013 votes, while BJP’s Amrishrao got 44,555 votes and Deepak Dada got 43,022 votes. The public had made NCP’s Dharam Rao victorious.

Most of the people of the tribal community live in Aheri seat. Their total number in this seat is more than 50 percent. If we talk about Dalit voters, they are around 12 per cent here. Muslims make up about 3.5 percent in this seat. Similarly, if we look at urban and rural voters in this assembly seat, their figures are also around 7 per cent and 93 per cent respectively.
