Today is the last day to withdraw nominations ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. During this time, both alliances have begun trying to convince their respective rebel candidates. Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) are laying special emphasis on those candidates who can change the equation of victory and defeat.
Meanwhile, three important faces of Maharashtra have withdrawn from these elections. The first name among them is Sankheeva Sharma, wife of encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma. Sankranti had filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Andheri East assembly seat. He was going to challenge Shiv Sena candidate Murji Patel. But now Sankranti has announced that he will withdraw his nomination.
The second name on the list to be retired is Gopal Shetty. Shetty had filed an independent nomination from Borivali assembly seat. But now, after talks with BJP leader Vinod Tawde, Gopal Shetty has announced that he will withdraw his independent candidature. Shetty has said he was protesting against irregularities within the party. But when he is convinced, he will support the BJP candidate.
The third and most important name in this list is Manoj Jarange Patil. Manoj protested for a long time demanding reservation for the Maratha community. Manoj had earlier announced that he would campaign against many MPs in the Mahayuti government, but has now withdrawn his earlier decision. Manoj has said that he will not support any candidate or party in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Along with this, he has also asked his followers who had submitted nominations to withdraw their candidacy.
