A serious accident took place at Antalya airport in Türkiye, where a Russian passenger plane caught fire after landing. Fortunately, 89 passengers narrowly escaped the accident.
According to Reuters news agency, the Turkish Transport Ministry said the landing of all flights at the airport was postponed until authorities removed the Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane operated by Azimuth Airlines from the runway.
All 89 passengers and 6 cabin crew members on board the aircraft were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
Airport Hub has shared the video of this incident on X, in which you can clearly see smoke coming from the plane’s engine. In addition, emergency unit employees were busy trying to extinguish the fire at the scene.
At the same time, Russian airline Azimuth Airlines claimed that the plane had made a bad landing due to a gust of wind. This means a sudden change in wind speed or direction over a relatively short distance.
Russia’s Federal Aviation Authority, Rosaviatsia, said it is investigating the incident. Flight tracking website Flightradar24 said the plane was 7 years old.
