- National Milk Day organized in Mandi
- Chakkar Unit of Milk Plant Conducted Quiz Competition
(Mandi News) Today society-market. The district level National Milk Day was organized at Mandi on Tuesday by the Chakkar unit of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Committee, in which people were provided with information about the importance of milk . The program was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety, LD Thakur.
He said that National Milk Day is celebrated in India on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of the White Revolution.
This day underlines the importance of milk in a person’s life, with the aim of promoting the benefits of milk among people and creating awareness among people about the importance of milk and dairy products.
Vishwa Kant Sharma, in-charge of the Chakkar unit of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Committee, said milk production in India is the highest in the world.
He said the state government has laid special emphasis on encouraging milk production and MILKFED is playing its role in this. Chakkar milk plant has also emerged as a leader in this regard.
At Chakkar milk plant with 50 thousand liter capacity, along with desi ghee, butter, milk, cheese, curd, Nutrimix and Saviyan etc. are also being prepared for the children of Anganwadi.
On this occasion, a quiz competition was also organized to raise awareness among people about the importance of milk, in which schoolchildren from the area participated.
In the competition, boys from St. Francis, Xavier, Convent School, Bagla stood first, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mandi stood second and boys from Government Higher Secondary School, Bagla stood third.
Gifts were also given to the children and later Milk Fed also distributed dairy products to the old age home, Bhangarotu, and special support school for children, Nagchala.
