Today is the results date in Jharkhand. A decision will be made very soon on who between the NDA Alliance and India will be able to form the government and who will be chosen by the public to sit in the opposition for the next five years. Voting was held in two phases on 81 seats in the state. There was a contest between JMM and Congress at Nala headquarters in Jamtara district. BJP had fielded Madhav Chandra Mahato against JMM’s Rabindra Nath Mahato.
Rabindra Nath Mahato has been winning in this seat since the last two elections. If Rabindra Nath Mahato wins this time on the JMM ticket, it will be a hat-trick of wins for him. Rabindra Nath Mahato got 61 thousand votes in the 2019 assembly elections. Satyanand Jha of the Bharatiya Janata Party came second. Jha had obtained a total of 58,000 votes. Thus, Rabindranath Mahato had won the elections by a margin of about three and a half thousand votes.
Electoral history: 2000 until now
The Nala assembly seat in Jamtara district has been under CPI monopoly for a long time since 1967. CPI’s Bishweshwar Khan was elected MLA at least eight times. The situation in this seat changed in the year 2005. This was the first assembly election held after the establishment of Jharkhand. Rabindra Nath Mahato of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha managed to win the 2005 elections. After this, Satyanand Jha of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2009 elections.
But he could not maintain his winning streak of 2014. Running on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket, he first convincingly won the 2014 and then 2019 elections. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which had dreamed of defeating Rabindra Nath Mahato to through Satyanand Jha in the last elections, he changed candidates in these elections. BJP fielded Madhav Chandra Mahato against Rabindra Nath Mahato. What their result was will be revealed in a few hours.
