RCP Singh and Nitish Kumar
RCP Singh, who has been in Bihar politics for two years, will now jump into the election fray. The PCR has also announced the formation of a new party for this. Only time will tell who the RCP will be able to cause more damage in the 2025 elections, but due to the political pattern in which the RCP is advancing, it is called the Chirag model of Nalanda.
RCP Singh was once considered Nitish Kumar’s successor from bureaucracy to politics, but with the changing times, RCP has become Nitish’s staunchest opponent. It is said that RCP politics can now shine only when Nitish participates in some political game.
Darbadar RCP formed its own party
In 2021, RCP Singh left JDU. At that time the party had asked him for clarifications on the accusation of illegal purchase of land. The RCP was also a minister at the Center at that time, but since he was not sent to the Rajya Sabha, he too had to resign from the post.
After this, the RCP stayed in his village for a few days, but since Nitish left with RJD, the RCP moved closer to the BJP. When Nitish rejoined the NDA in 2024, the BJP turned its back on the RCP.
The RCP wanted to contest from the Nalanda seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but the BJP awarded this seat under the JDU quota. The PCR began to live in isolation since then.
Recently, RCP Singh has announced the formation of his own new party, which has already been given concrete shape. The PCR party will enter the 2025 electoral battle.
RCP’s special focus on Nalanda
RCP Singh is a resident of Mustafapur in Nalanda district. The RCP, which hails from the Kurmi community, first entered politics in 2010. There was a time when the RCP was considered the successor of Nitish Kumar, but since 2021, the RCP is attacking Nitish.
It is said that there is still a year left for the 2025 elections and the RCP may focus mainly on Nalanda. Nalanda, dominated by Kurmi, is considered the stronghold of Nitish Kumar. There are 7 assembly seats in Nalanda Lok Sabha.
Is RCP Singh the ‘Chirag model’ of Nalanda?
It is being said in political circles that the way Chirag Paswan entered the field was all over Bihar to corner Nitish Kumar in 2020. Similarly, this time RCP Singh enters Nalanda with great preparation.
During a press conference in 2022, current Union minister and former JDU president Lalan Singh said that if the Chirag model was not there in 2020, the JDU would have become the largest party. In 2020, the JDU had only won 43 seats.
Nitish Kumar’s party had to face defeat in around 40 assembly seats due to Chirag Paswan’s candidate.
Why should Nitish fear PCR?
There are 7 seats in Nalanda assembly, of which Nitish’s party had won 5 seats last time. Lalu Yadav’s RJD had won one seat and the Bharatiya Janata Party had won one seat.
The JDU candidate won the Islampur seat by 12 votes. Similarly, the JDU candidate managed to win the Asthawan seat by 11,000 votes. The JDU candidates had won the Nalanda and Rajgir seats by 16,000 votes each.
In such a situation, if RCP candidate Singh manages to significantly reduce Kurmi’s votes in the upcoming elections, then there may be a game in the bastion with Nitish’s party.
The RCP has praised Tejashwi
Before forming the party, RCP Singh praised RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in an interview. The RCP had described these statements as erroneous, in which Tejashwi was mocked for his education.
The RCP said that the education of those elected by the public should not be questioned. In reality, Prashant Kishor, who came to politics through an electoral strategy, is continuously targeting Tejashwi Yadav.
