Pal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday said there will be no agreement on the loan during his upcoming visit to China. Prime Minister Oli will pay an official visit to China on December 2 at the invitation of the Chinese government. Before the visit, Oli held a meeting attended by the country’s former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

During the meeting with former prime ministers and foreign ministers at Singh Darbar during his tenure as prime minister, Oli said there will be no loan-related deal during his visit. In the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his opinion about the neighboring countries and said that Nepal has friendly relations with both China and India. Oli also said that Nepal should focus on its development and at the same time benefit from both countries.

Long-standing friendly relations with China

Commenting on Nepal’s relations with China, Oli said the two countries have had friendly relations for a long time. Regarding the Belt and Road project, he said that it is a multi-level development project launched with the aim of increasing connectivity and cooperation at a global level.

Oli also said that Nepal accepts loans from any country or agency only based on its national interests, so they should not hear rumors that they are getting trapped in the debt trap of any country. Regarding the visit to China, Oli said that for him the sovereignty, independence and well-being of the people of Nepal are the top priority.

I hope the trip is successful

Oli expressed hope that his visit to China would be a success. He denied having differences with the ruling party, the Nepali Congress, on the issue. In the meeting, Oli said that issues related to effective implementation of agreements with China, export of Nepalese products to China and other cooperation will be discussed during his visit to China.

There is no intention to play the China card

Speaking at the meeting, former prime minister and CPM Maoist Center president Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said that though he was the first to break the tradition of visiting China, he had no intention of playing the China card. Prachanda said previous agreements with China should be completed as soon as possible.
