Barun Das, MD & CEO, Tv9 Network.
At the launch of the News9 Global Summit at the MHP Arena, a football ground in the industrial city of Stuttgart, Germany, Barun Das, MD and CEO of Tv9 Network, said: “Thank you to Germany for inviting TV9, the largest news network in the largest democracy in the world, to Stuttgart. This is a historic moment for me and for the entire Tv9 network and for our co-presenter Fau ef B Stuttgart.
If you had to choose any other country besides India, it would be Germany.
Barun Das said that life is a great journey. I have often told my family and friends that if I had to choose any country other than India to live in, it would be Germany. An important reason for this is that I am from the land of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Which is a well-known name in Germany.
Tagore visited Germany in 1921, 1926 and 1930. His works have been translated by the German writer Martin Kampchen. Regarding Tagore, Martin has said that wherever he spoke, the rooms were full. Those who were denied entry to the room often resorted to quarrels and fights; Many such reports were published in newspapers. The German media has praised the Indian poet as “the wise man of the East” and a “mystic and messiah”. This happened almost a century ago.
I will always cherish this moment
Barun Das, MD & CEO, TV9 Network, said that it is a coincidence that I am here in front of you today to welcome you all. At a media summit that is taking place in a global location: the city of Stuttgart in Germany.
There is a different feeling of creating a new media workforce in the innovation capital, promoting development and contributing to bilateral relations between the two countries. Singing the national anthems of India and Germany together is a moment I will always cherish.
Unique link between Sanskrit and the German language
Barun Das said that apart from the connection with Tagore, I am also struck by the linguistic link between Sanskrit and German, the oldest language of India. Heinrich Roth was the first German to do a master’s degree in Sanskrit. He traveled to India and became fascinated by the mysteries of Indian culture.
Friedrich Schlegel and August Schlegel investigated in depth the peculiarities of the Sanskrit language. Sanskrit is now taught in the best universities in Germany. This is the basic DNA that connects India and Germany.
The summit will prepare a new roadmap to take India-German relations to greater heights.
Barun Das, MD & CEO, Tv9 Network, said, “I am pleased to share that we have many leaders present here at this News9 Global Summit to discuss the roadmap to take Germany-India relations to new heights.
I am extremely grateful to Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, who have come a long way from India to participate in this important event. We are fortunate to have two of Germany’s top policymakers, Federal Minister Cem Ozdemir and Baden-Württemberg Minister Wilfried Kretschmann, joining us for the next two days.
The most special moment of the summit is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s keynote address tomorrow afternoon. I am grateful for the support of our German partners, our co-host FAU EF B Stuttgart and the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, who made this possible.
Barun Das, MD & CEO, Tv9 Network, thanked Ruven for the excellent association. Thanking Florian Hassler, First Secretary of Baden-Wurttemberg, he said that we look forward to hearing from him this afternoon. He said that we are also happy to have the most prestigious German institutions, such as the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, as partners. An exciting evening awaits us, beginning with speeches by Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
