Now how are you going to steal? In Etawah, the electricity department itself closed the junction box.

To stop electricity theft in Etawah, the Electricity Corporation will now close the electricity poles. A plan has been drawn up to curb electricity theft by installing locks on boxes installed on electric poles. In the first phase, around fifteen hundred locks were ordered from the department and installation began. Locks will be installed on the boxes installed on all electric poles in Etawah district. To connect the line from inside the box, the key will be available from the line manager of the corresponding area. Only the cable of the person who has a valid connection will be connected to the box. The department has prepared this formula because electricity theft is increasing in the district.

Efforts continue to improve the power supply system in Etawah district. To prevent electricity theft, the department has begun locking all junction boxes. Now, without connection, anyone’s cable will not be able to connect to the box. The key to the box will remain in the hands of the linesman in question. Superintending engineer Manoj Gaur said the department has already purchased 1,200 locks for the first phase and installation work has also been started.

The district’s power supply system has not been fully repaired. Every day there are incidents of broken cables and in other places the supply is affected by other problems. Apart from this, electricity theft is also a big problem. According to Electricity Department officials, continuous action is being taken in this regard. Work on installing ABC (Aerial Bunch Conductor) cables in place of the overhead cables previously installed in the villages has also been completed.

The connection box will be locked

To provide supply through the ABC cable, connection boxes have been installed on poles in different places and from one box connections are given to a maximum of 10 consumers, but this system is also being exploited by electricity thieves. The department believes that because the junction box is open, some people are tampering with it, affecting the supply. Now, at places where ABC cable work is being carried out, the executing agency carrying out the work has been instructed to lock all junction boxes after making connections of regular consumers. The locks of all the junction boxes belonging to a feeder will have the same key so that the employees do not have to face problems in solving the electrical problem.

1200 padlocks were purchased.

For proper electricity supply, junction boxes are installed on each pole but remain open. Because of this, some people steal electricity arbitrarily and with the help of department employees. Now, it won’t be easy to do all this when you’re locked down.

Giving information, Superintending Engineer Manoj Gaur said that the installation work of ABC cable is continuing in the first phase. In the first phase, 1,200 padlocks were purchased. It is also indicated that all connection boxes belonging to a feeder have the same key.
