The gold seal identifies purity
An ordinary man somehow gets gold jewelry made from his hard-earned money. In such a situation, to avoid any type of fraud, a law has been enacted to hallmark jewelery and register the HUID code on it. It has been made mandatory for different cities in the country and now 18 more cities have been included in this list.
The government reported on Thursday in a notification that the fourth phase of mandatory hallmarking for gold jewelry and other artifacts has begun in the country. This time 18 more cities have been included in the list. In this way, now only hallmarked gold jewelry will be compulsorily bought and sold in a total of 361 cities in the country.
The scheme expanded in these states.
According to the government statement, this extension of the mandatory contrast will come into force from November 5. 18 districts of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been included in this. Previously, this scheme has been expanded in many cities across the country in 3 different phases.

1.94 lakh registered jewelers
The government said there has been a significant increase in the number of jewelers selling hallmarked jewellery. Previously, 34,647 jewelers were registered in this initiative. Now their number has increased to 1,94,039. At the same time, the number of centers that examine and contrast jewelry has increased from 945 to 1,622.

40 Crore Hallmarked Jewelery in the Country
According to government figures, more than 40 million rupees of hallmarked jewelery have been sold in the country so far. A unique HUID code is registered in all of them. The HUID code is an alphanumeric code that provides information about the purity of a piece of jewelry, the laboratory that tests it, and the jeweler who makes it. By entering this code you can check the quality of that jewel anywhere.
