A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Odisha’s Jajpur district for creating multiple fake social media accounts of a woman and uploading her obscene photographs. The accused also used to post derogatory comments about the woman on these accounts. The accused has been identified as Santosh Kumar Sahu, a resident of Narsinghpur village. The police are questioning him.

Accused Santosh Kumar Sahu revealed during interrogation that he had befriended the woman through the social media platform about two years ago. They used to talk on the phone. After a few days their friendship turned into a love story. They stayed connected to each other through social media. But the woman broke off her relationship with the accused last month. He even stopped answering his phone.

Dharamshala police station in-charge TK Nayak said, “To avenge the breakup, the accused downloaded the victim’s photos from his social media account. Following this, he created several fake accounts in her name and posted videos and obscene images against him.” And he began posting messages. Not only this, but messages of this type were also sent to the victim’s acquaintances. After this, the victim obtained the information.

The police station in charge said that the woman victim lodged a complaint against the accused at the Dharamshala police station on Monday. Based on his complaint, the police registered a case under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the IT Act and launched an investigation. During the investigation, the police obtained the details and IP addresses used to operate the fake accounts.

A police officer said that based on information, the location of the mobile phone used to operate the account was found in Sahu. Following this, a police team was sent to arrest him. Upon arriving at the scene, the police saw the accused trying to escape from the scene, but they quickly arrested him at the scene.
