In the minor rape case in Kendrapara, Odisha, the district court sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. This 53-year-old defendant is the victim’s neighbor. The police arrested him in court and sent him to jail. This information was given by special public prosecutor Manoj Kumar Sahu in the district court. He said the case was heard in the court of Additional District Judge-Special Judge (POCSO).
In this, after hearing all parties, the court found the accused guilty and announced the punishment. In this case, the police completed their investigation within the stipulated time and submitted the chargesheet before the court. Subsequently, after examining the relevant evidence in court, the testimony of 19 witnesses was also conducted. During this time all evidence and witness testimonies against the accused were found. After this, the court described the matter as very serious and shameful.
Incident of June 6, 2022
The court sentenced the culprit in this case to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the culprit. According to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the accused had committed this act on June 6, 2022. At that time the victim had gone to the accused’s house to meet her friend. During this time, the defendant tricked the victim, locked her in the room, and committed this crime.
The accused has been in prison since that time.
After the incident, the victim came home seriously injured and informed her mother about the entire incident. Later, the victim arrived at the police station with her mother and filed a complaint with the police. Based on this complaint, the police registered a case. According to the police, the accused was arrested at the same time and, after necessary interrogations, was sent to prison.
