Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party of Pakistan has announced that it will protest today i.e. Sunday. Despite being continually prevented from holding this protest by the government, Imran Khan’s party has announced that it will protest in Islamabad. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party is trying to pressure the government so that its jailed leaders can be released.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will pay a visit to Pakistan from November 25 to 27. For this reason, his delegation will arrive in the country on November 24. Regarding the protest announced by the PTI, the country’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi warned the PTI that no type of sit-in or protest will be allowed in the capital on Sunday.

Lockdown type situation in the country

On one hand, the PTI is holding a meeting to hold this protest. On the other hand, Shahbaz Sharif’s government has resorted to repression to crush this protest. To prevent PTI workers from advancing, huge containers have been placed on 37 roads in Islamabad. In addition, a large number of security forces have been deployed.

Special measures have been taken for the security of all important government buildings, including Parliament and the Supreme Court. Article 144 was imposed on the city and public gatherings were banned for two months. As a precautionary measure, Internet, mobile services and public transport have been suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Why did Imran Khan announce the protest?

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced protests in the country on November 24. He said this is a demonstration to break the chains of slavery. He also said that the purpose of this demonstration is to restore democracy, law and human rights in the country. Imran Khan said that law, constitution and human rights have been suspended in Pakistan and this is where people are forced to come out on the streets and make sacrifices.

Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi warned PTI Chief Counsel Gauhar Ali Khan not to protest. According to him, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, will arrive in the country on November 25 for a three-day visit and his delegation of 80 people will arrive on November 24. In the meantime there should not be any kind of protest. On this, Barrister Gauhar said that Imran Khan has announced this protest and only he can stop it.

PTI targeted the government

The party has criticized the government’s move to stop the PTI from protesting. PTI said the government has restricted freedoms and alleged that it has taken away citizens’ rights of movement, trade, employment and communication.

The PTI spokesperson attacked the government for stopping the protest and said that 24 million people in this country are fed up with their self-centered masters who have ruined the country economically, socially and politically in the last two and a half years. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were arrested last year in several cases.
