Big news comes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the troubled province of Pakistan. 12 security personnel were reportedly killed in a suicide attack. Giving information about the incident, the Pakistani military said that on Wednesday a suicide bomber carried out the attack by crashing an explosive-laden vehicle into a police post.
The police post was severely damaged by the explosion, killing a total of 12 security personnel, including 10 soldiers and two border police personnel present there. Many people have also been injured in the attack. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Doctors said the condition of some of the injured remains critical.
6 terrorists killed in shooting
Giving more information about the incident, the Army said that 6 terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists after the explosion at the police post. After the attack in the province, the army has started a clean-up operation to search for terrorists throughout the area.
The army has imposed a curfew in the entire area. In another incident on Tuesday night, terrorists attempted to attack a joint check post in Malikhel area of Bannu district, but the attack was foiled by security forces.
Attack after approval of military operation
There has been a rise in terrorist activities in the recent past in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. According to some reports, these incidents have increased by as much as 90 percent. To address this issue, a meeting was held on Tuesday under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Apart from the representatives of the Government of Pakistan, many senior officers of the army also participated in this meeting. At the meeting, a comprehensive military operation against terrorism in the country was approved.
