There are just over 3 months left for the Champions Trophy 2025 but the biggest problem has not yet been resolved. Will team India go to Pakistan for this tournament? The conflict over this issue has been going on since last year and the latest situation is that the Pakistan Cricket Board has come out to threaten the Indian Cricket Board over this issue. After the report that the Indian cricket team did not go to Pakistan and played in any other country, Pakistan board president Mohsin Naqvi said that he had not received any letter from the BCCI or the ICC. Naqvi has also said that if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan, they should not expect anything good from Pakistan.
Team India will not go to Pakistan!
On Friday, November 8, a report claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had clearly told the PCB that the Indian team would not be sent to Pakistan for the tournament. It is also stated in the report that the BCCI refused to go to Pakistan citing team safety and also demanded to host India’s matches in Dubai. This means that, like last year’s Asia Cup, the Champions Trophy should also be organized according to a hybrid model.
Great statement by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi
Soon after this report was published, PCB Director Mohsin Naqvi spoke to the media in Lahore. Mohsin Naqvi said: ‘I have not received anything in writing. If we receive something in writing, I will immediately share it with you and the government and then we will decide what should be done. For the last two months, there have been reports in the Indian media that the Indian team will not come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Our position is clear, if you have any problems, please let us know in writing. So far we have not heard anything about the hybrid model and we are not ready to hear it either.
Mohsin Naqvi further said, ‘If the Indian media reports this fact, then the ICC or the BCCI should send us a letter. We have not found anything similar. We want cricket not to mix with politics. There should be no politics. We are preparing for the Champions Trophy, we hope it will be a successful tournament. If the Indian team does not come here, we will have to go to our government. So whatever decision they make, we will have to follow it. With this he said, “If the Indian team does not come to Pakistan, then don’t expect anything good from us.”
