After completing his first visit to Nigeria on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Brazil to attend the G-20 summit. Earlier, he held bilateral talks with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and interacted with the Indian community. Prime Minister Modi arrived in the Nigerian capital on Sunday morning on his first visit to the West African country after a gap of 17 years. After concluding his visit, Prime Minister Modi posted on Instagram thanking Nigeria for the productive visit. This will provide strength and enthusiasm to the friendship between India and Nigeria.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a post on Twitter that Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit in Abuja, Nigeria. During this time he was honored with Nigeria’s national award, Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). He has become the second foreign dignitary to receive this honor.
PM Modi held bilateral talks with President Tinubu and said India attaches high priority to its strategic partnership with Nigeria and will work to boost ties in various sectors including defence, energy and trade.
Prime Minister Modi described the Indian expatriate community, which numbers about 60,000, as a key pillar of India-Nigeria relations and thanked Tinubu for ensuring their well-being. The Prime Minister also announced that India would send 20 tonnes of relief material for Nigerians affected by last month’s floods.
