New Delhi: The presence of the M4 rifle in Jammu and Kashmir has alerted security agencies. According to sources, the weapons left by the US army after the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 are now reaching the terrorists who reach Kashmir by infiltrating from Pakistan. Recently, during the encounter in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces recovered M4 carbon assault rifle, making it clear that terrorists are now using M4 rifles more than AK-47. These rifles are believed to be mainly purchased in Afghanistan and their copies are also manufactured in Pakistan.

CCTV footage shows terrorists with M4 rifle

Terrorists were seen carrying M4 rifles in CCTV footage of the terror attack on workers and employees working on the tunnel project in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. With this it was revealed that the terrorists who were spreading terror in the cities of Pakistan in Kashmir have these dangerous weapons. Even before this, M4 rifles were recovered from top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sameer Tiger in 2017 and Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Abu Talha in 2018. When US and NATO forces were deployed in Afghanistan, these rifles were largely supplied from Karachi in Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bordering Afghanistan.

Find out what features the M4 rifle is equipped with

The M4 rifle is a lightweight, gas-powered, air-cooled, magazine-fed assault rifle. The special thing is that it can fire between 700 and 900 rounds per minute. It can hit targets very comfortably at a distance of 500 to 600 meters, while its maximum range is up to 3600 meters. Apart from this, it also has features like night vision, which makes it even more lethal. This rifle has been used exclusively by the Pakistani commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed, and this rifle was also recovered from the terrorists killed in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.

Defense experts expressed deep concern.

Access of sophisticated assault rifles like the M4 from across the border to terrorists in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern, according to defense experts. Intelligence sources say that in 2021, the US military left around $7 billion worth of military equipment in Afghanistan, including 3 lakh small arms and thousands of M4 rifles. These weapons are now reaching terrorists in Kashmir through Pakistan, which has become a major security threat to the region.
