Visit of Prime Minister Modi Guyana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made history by visiting Guyana for the first time as Prime Minister of India in 56 years. When Prime Minister Modi arrived in Georgetown on Wednesday, Guyana’s President Mohammed Irfan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Anthony Phillips and dozens of cabinet ministers gave him a grand welcome. Prime Minister Modi also addressed a special session of Guyana’s Parliament.
The relationship between India and Guyana is full of intimacy
At a special session of the Guyana Parliament, Prime Minister Modi said: “The relationship between India and Guyana is very deep, it is a relationship of land, sweat and hard work. About 180 years ago, an Indian came to the land of Guyana .and after that, in both moments of joy and sadness, the relationship between India and Guyana has been full of intimacy.”
Prime Minister Modi reminisced about the old days.
In his speech, Prime Minister Modi said: “24 years ago, as a curiosity, I had the opportunity to come to this beautiful country. Usually people like to go to countries where there is pomp and ostentation, but I “I loved the heritage of Guyana. And you had to understand the history. Even today you will find many people in Guyana who will remember my encounter there. There are many memories associated with my trip back then.”
