Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Dominica’s highest award for his support during the Covid-19 crisis and his efforts to strengthen relations between India and Dominica. Dominica President Sylvanie Burton honored Prime Minister Modi with the ‘Dominica Honor Award’ during the India-CARICOM summit in Guyana.

After receiving the award, Narendra Modi said, “I am honored to receive Dominica’s highest national award. I dedicate it to the 140 crore people of India.”

President Burton, you have personally come to Guyana to present me with this award. I thank you very much for this special gesture. India and Dominica are two democracies. In addition to this, we are the role model of women empowerment for the whole world, both countries have female presidents. Draupadi Murmu, the president of India, is the first president to come from a tribal community. Similarly, President Burton is also the first indigenous President of Dominica.”

She also said that both are a source of inspiration for all women in the world. India and Dominica have centuries-old historical and cultural ties. In the 19th century, many Indians made Dominica their home. The foundation he laid provides a solid foundation for our relationships.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a social media post: “Dominican President Sylvanie Burton honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the ‘Dominica Honor Award’, the highest national award. of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The award recognizes the Prime Minister’s role during the Covid pandemic and “Recognizes his contribution to Dominica and his commitment to strengthening relations between India and Dominica.”

Let us tell you that the Prime Minister will also receive the highest recognitions from Guyana and Barbados, bringing the total number of his international awards to 19. Guyana will present Prime Minister Modi with its highest national award ‘The Order of Excellence’, while Barbados will honor him with the prestigious ‘Honorary Order of the Freedom of Barbados’.
