Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Delhi after completing his three-country tour: Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana. Prime Minister Modi started his tour from Nigeria. After this he arrived in Brazil to participate in the G-20 Summit and from there he traveled to Guyana. Prime Minister Modi gained a lot of respect in Nigeria and Guyana. Both countries honored the Prime Minister with their highest honors. It was after 17 years that an Indian Prime Minister visited Nigeria. At the same time, after almost 50 years, an Indian Prime Minister visited Guyana for the first time. Prime Minister Modi received a guard of honor in Guyana.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Sunday morning on a five-day, three-country visit. This was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria after 17 years. Prime Minister Modi had visited Nigeria at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Nigeria honored Prime Minister Modi with the highest honor of ‘Grand Commander of the Order of Niger’. Prime Minister Modi said that he feels very proud to receive this honour. Prime Minister Modi held talks with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on promoting partnership between the two countries in various fields, including trade and investment.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi also addressed the Indian community. Prime Minister Modi said India is the mother of democracy while Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa. Our two countries have equal democracy. Our two countries have similarities in diversity. Our two countries have the energy of demographics. He said today many Indian companies are strengthening the entire Nigerian economy. The Indian community is working shoulder to shoulder for the development of Nigeria and this is the great strength of the people of India.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Brazil after finishing his tour of Nigeria. Prime Minister Modi participated in the G-20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. During this, PM Modi met many leaders including the presidents of Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Prime Minister Modi discussed many important issues of all these leaders. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi also met Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. During the G-20 Summit, the prime minister spoke with Brazilian President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva and praised all of Brazil’s efforts during its G-20 presidency. Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden also arrived in Brazil to participate in this conference.

After Nigeria and Brazil, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Guyana on Wednesday. Prime Minister Modi was received warmly in Guyana. Modi received a formal welcome and guard of honor in Georgetown, Guyana. This was the first visit by an Indian Head of State to Guyana in over 50 years. He met with leaders of Caribbean partner countries on the sidelines of the India-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit. Prime Minister Modi held bilateral talks with Guyana’s President Irfan Ali. Subsequently, both countries signed five important agreements to improve their relations in various fields. Prime Minister Modi also addressed the Guyana Parliament.

On the sidelines of the second CARICOM Summit, Modi met President Chan Santokhi (Suriname) and President Dr. Mohammed Irfan Ali (Guyana) and their six counterparts Philip J. Pierre (Saint Lucia), Gaston Browne (Antigua and Barbuda ), Deacon Mitchell (Grenada), Philip Brave Davis (Bahamas), Mia Amor Mottley (Barbados) and Dr. Keith Rowley (Trinidad and Tobago).

Prime Minister Modi said that the relationship between India and Guyana is very deep. India and Guyana have seen similar slavery and struggles. How many people sacrificed their lives here and there in the fight for freedom. Democracy is in our DNA and in our behavior. Wherever there was a war situation in the world, India came for relief and rescue, whether it was Sri Lanka or Maldives… India came and helped. This is our culture. We have never advanced with a policy of selfishness and expansionism. 24 years ago I had the opportunity to come to this country out of curiosity. I wanted to know and understand the history of this place. At the same time, Guyana’s President Irfan Ali said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Guyana is a milestone in increasing cooperation between the two countries.
