Lucknow. Senior advocate and social worker Syed Mohammad Haider Rizvi has written a letter to the district tuberculosis officer demanding that tuberculosis related facilities be provided in the district jail for the sick prisoners lodged in the jail. Shri Haider has said that incarcerated prisoners also have the same fundamental rights as any other Indian citizen. Among these rights, the right to life provided under Article 21 of the Constitution of India is a very important right; Health and treatment also fall within its scope.
The senior advocate said that there are dozens of patients suffering from tuberculosis in Sitapur jail, who are not benefiting from the very ambitious Nikshay Project of the Central Government and out of 70 patients identified in the last 6 years (2018 – 2023), only 9 patients are It is possible to obtain the benefits of said plan by registering for it. This situation is extremely serious and sensitive and prima facie demonstrates insensitivity on the part of your office in this matter.
