On Wednesday, Kerala Congress leaders handed over the winning certificate to Priyanka. In Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi got 6 lakh 22 thousand 338 votes, while CPI candidate Satyam Mokeri came second with 2 lakh 11407 votes. The BJP came third in this seat. BJP candidate Navya Haridas got 1 lakh 99939 votes.

Priyanka Gandhi will visit Wayanad on December 30 and 1 after the oath-taking ceremony. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi may also be present with Priyanka Gandhi during this period. Priyanka Gandhi will hold seven roadshows in Wayanad during her two-day visit. He will make traveling presentations in all seats of the assembly.

Priyanka used all her strength to win

The Wayanad seat fell vacant after the resignation of Rahul Gandhi. After this, the Congress Party expressed confidence in Priyanka Gandhi for this seat after Rahul. Soon, the Wayanad seat is becoming a bastion of the Congress Party, where it is becoming difficult to give them a fight.

Senior leaders of the party including Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge had put all their strength into holding the Wayanad elections in their own interest and all of them were present in Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi also campaigned for his sister and asked for votes. Priyanka Gandhi also participated in numerous public meetings to ensure that the mandate is in her own interest.

Rahul Gandhi won twice in a row

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi contested from two seats, he contested from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and from the Wayanad seat in Kerala. After winning both seats, Rahul Gandhi retained his membership in the Rabareli seat and resigned from Wayanad. After this, by-elections were held here.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had secured 6 lakh 47,445 votes in this seat, while his rival Annie Raja could only get 2,83,023 votes in her tally. BJP candidate Surendran came third with 141,045 votes.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections too, Rahul Gandhi scored an excellent victory from this seat. The Congress leader had secured 7,06,367 votes. At the same time, the CPI (Marxist) PP Suneer, who was in second place at the time, managed to get 2,74,597 votes.

Congress MPs were also elected from this seat in the years 2009 and 2014. The late Congress leader MP MI Shanavas had won. After his death in 2018, Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination from this seat in the 2019 elections. Since then, Rahul Gandhi won in 2019 and 2024 and now Priyanka Gandhi has hoisted the flag of victory in the by-elections.
