4pm News Network: Big news is coming out of Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. On Monday (November 25), people were seen protesting fiercely against the Mata Vaishno Devi cable car project in Katra. Heavy stoning also occurs during this period. In this matter, officials say hundreds of traders and workers have extended their strike for 24 hours against the proposed ropeway project for the Vaishno Devi temple in Reasi district. Earlier, the protesters are said to have held a protest outside the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Katra town, the base camp of the pilgrims. They raised slogans against the temple board and the cable car project because they felt it would leave them jobless.
According to the information received, the protesters demanded the immediate withdrawal of the proposal and the proper rehabilitation of all families affected by the project. Under the Mata Vaishno Devi ropeway project, devotees will be provided with ropeway facilities to reach Vaishno Devi Darbar. With the help of this installation we will be able to complete the journey to the building in approximately 1 hour. According to sources, this project is expected to be completed in 2026 and around 1,000 people will be able to travel through this cable car.
