Shot in quick succession, two people were injured
Punjab Crime News (Aaj Samaj), Tarn Taran: An atmosphere of panic was created in Lalu Ghumman village in Tarn Taran when the sound of gunshot was suddenly heard. People came out of their houses and several shots were fired, one after another. This shot was fired at the newly elected Sarpanch of the village. In which Sarpanch Pratap Singh died on the spot. The incident was carried out by shooters who were traveling on bicycles. The Sarpanch was attacked while leaving the Gurudwara village after paying homage. At the same time, the criminals who arrived on bicycles committed the crime. Sarpanch’s two associates Budh Singh and Bhagwant Singh were injured in this attack.
No traces of the shooters were found.
When the Sarpanch was shot, some people present chased the shooters on bicycles. During this, one shooter fell due to loss of balance. When the villagers tried to catch him, the other criminal shot them and managed to escape by putting his companion back on the bicycle. After this, the villagers informed the police about this incident. Police teams reached the spot and investigated the incident and scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the village, but could not get much information related to the shooters.

Pratap Singh had gone to attend the last prayers.
According to information received from family members, Sarpanch Pratap Singh was elected Sarpanch of Lalu Ghumman village without any opposition. In connection with the death of Jasbir Kaur, wife of villager Mahinder Singh, the last prayer was held at Gurudwara Baba Kharak Singh. After attending the last Ardaas, he had just left the Gurudwara when the bike-borne shooters already present there opened fire on him and fled.
